Every listing on a business-for-sale platform shows an asking price, a revenue figure, a profit figure. What almost none of them show is whether those numbers are actually real. Bizzie now does. Sellers can connect their Xero account directly to a listing, and instead of typing in a revenue figure by hand, the real Profit & Loss data comes straight from their own books.
This matters for two different people in two different ways.
For buyers: numbers you don't have to take on faith
Anyone who has browsed businesses for sale has run into the same problem. A listing says the business turns over $400,000 a year with $150,000 in profit, and there is no way to know if that is accurate until well into a conversation with the seller, usually after signing an NDA and waiting on documents. Self-reported numbers are the industry default, and buyers know it, which is exactly why so much of the early back and forth in a deal is just trying to establish whether the listing is even telling the truth.
A listing with Financials Verified skips that entirely. The badge means the revenue and profit figures were pulled directly from the seller's connected accounting software, not typed into a form. It does not replace due diligence, a serious buyer should still dig into the details before making an offer, but it means the starting point is real, which changes how much of that early conversation is spent just trying to establish trust.
For sellers: less admin, more credibility
Listing a business for sale usually means digging up a year or two of financial records and manually re-entering them into a form, then hoping buyers believe the numbers once they see them. Connecting Xero removes both problems at once. The figures populate automatically from books that are already being kept, and the resulting listing carries a level of credibility a typed-in number simply cannot match.
It also means less time spent fielding early questions from buyers who are really just asking "can I trust this," since the verification does that work before the conversation even starts.
How it works
- From the listing edit page, a seller connects their Xero account in a couple of clicks
- Bizzie pulls the last 12 months of Profit & Loss data directly from Xero
- The listing is marked Financials Verified, visible to anyone browsing
- Numbers can be refreshed at any time to reflect the latest figures
Nothing about a seller's underlying accounting data is made public, the connection only ever pulls the summary figures needed for the listing itself.
What's next
Xero is the first accounting platform Bizzie connects with, chosen because of how widely it is used across small businesses in Australia. Support for additional platforms is on the roadmap as well.
