Bizzie is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information.
1. Who We Are
Christian Mitchell, trading as Bizzie ("Bizzie", "we", "us", "our"), ABN 65 118 791 649, operates the online business marketplace at getbizzie.com.au. Our primary contact for privacy matters is legal@getbizzie.com.au.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Account registration information: name, email address, phone number, password
- Listing information: business details, financial information, photos, location
- Contact form submissions and enquiries
- Payment information (processed securely by Stripe — we do not store card details)
- Communications with our support team
2.2 Information collected automatically
- IP address and device information
- Browser type and operating system
- Pages visited and time spent on the Platform
- Referring URLs and search terms used
2.3 Information from accounting software you connect
If you choose to verify your listing's financials, you can connect an accounting provider — currently Xero or Intuit QuickBooks. This is entirely optional. Listings work without it.
- What we read. Your profit and loss report for the preceding twelve months, and nothing else. We do not read your ledger, transactions, invoices, customers, suppliers, payroll or employee records.
- What we store. Two figures against your listing: total income and net profit. We also store the identifier of the connected organisation, and its name where the provider supplies one.
- What we are permitted to do. The Xero connection is limited by its permission scope to reading profit and loss reports only — we could not change anything in your Xero account even if we tried. Intuit does not offer an equivalent report-only permission for QuickBooks, so that connection uses their general accounting permission. We only ever read your profit and loss report, but the permission you grant is broader than what we use, and you should be aware of that before connecting.
- Access credentials. We store the tokens your provider issues so we can refresh the figures when you ask us to. They are held on our servers only, are never sent to your browser, and are not shared with buyers or other users.
- Disconnecting. You can disconnect at any time from your listing's edit page. We revoke our access with the provider, delete the stored credentials, and remove the verified figures from your listing. You can also revoke our access directly from within Xero or QuickBooks.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Publish and manage your business listings
- Facilitate enquiries between Buyers and Sellers
- Process payments for listing fees and subscriptions
- Send transactional emails including listing confirmations and enquiry notifications
- Respond to your support requests
- Improve the Platform and develop new features
- Comply with our legal obligations
We will only send you marketing communications with your consent, and you may unsubscribe at any time.
4. Disclosure of Your Information
We may share your personal information with:
- Other users of the Platform, to the extent necessary to facilitate transactions (for example, sharing a Seller's contact details with a Buyer after an enquiry, or vice versa)
- Our service providers, including Supabase (database and authentication), Stripe (payment processing), Resend (email delivery), and Google (maps and analytics)
- Law enforcement or government agencies where required by law
- Successors in the event of a business acquisition or merger
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
5. Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Supabase's Singapore region. Bizzie itself runs on Cloudflare's global edge network, which handles each request in whichever data centre is nearest the visitor; no personal information is retained there.
Several of our service providers operate outside Australia. Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery) and Google (maps and analytics) process data in the United States and elsewhere. If you connect accounting software, Xero or Intuit handle that request on their own infrastructure. This means your personal information is stored and handled outside Australia, including in Singapore and the United States.
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at legal@getbizzie.com.au.
7. Cookies
We use essential cookies to maintain your session and remember your preferences. We may also use analytics cookies to understand how users interact with the Platform. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, although this may affect the functionality of the Platform.
8. Third Party Links
The Platform may contain links to third party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
9. Children
The Platform is not intended for use by persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Contact Us
